A brief history:
Andy Moran set up business in the 1970s supplying jewellers and trophy shops with engraved goods. This led to opening a trophy shop and then working with trophy wholesalers to manufacture wooden trophies and shields. Geoff Lewis joined in 1979 and the business focussed on the large scale manufacture of wooden components for the trophy and giftware industry. The business grew through the 1980s making anything from the smallest bases for potteries to larger items such as snooker tables, always focussing on the skilled and efficient manufacture of wooden components using our knowledge of machinery, materials and manufacturing methods.
In the 1990s, as recession hit and the trophy wholesalers turned to cheap imports, Moran’s looked to new market areas. Our skills in and experience of developing new products based on an in-depth knowledge of wood and machining led to a versatile and varied product range.
Andy’s son Paul joined in 2000, and son-in-law Neil Horton in 2005. Focussing on the products areas as we have today, hospitality, luxury packaging, point of sale, and signs, we developed a versatile product range in these niches, constantly evolving and exploring new ideas. We worked closely with some of the UK’s biggest companies to develop and manufacture the most suitable wooden products for their needs.
We expanded in 2011 to a 37,000 square foot factory. As our business grew and at the height of one of our busiest periods, in the summer of 2013 disaster struck and a fire devastated part of our factory. Another relocation was required, to our current site in Warrington. Whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger!
